I recently bought a home with three Hunter fans with the dual slide switches. In less than a week I had broke two of them because they are so poorly built. I replaced them with the Emerson switch and haven't had any problems. The sliders aren't as flimsy so they don't fall off. Definitely recommend these Emerson switches to those Hunter owners that are having the same problems I did.

I bought this item to replace an existing dimmer switch that had simply broke in my hand when adjusting the cheap plastic slider. The Emerson switch I am reviewing replaced that and is much better quality. So far, the switch fit snugly in the vacancy created by the previous one, and feels more sturdy. The sliders are a heavier quality or something and I do feel I need to worry about it popping off in my hand when I turn the light or fan on. Installation was a snap as well with the long color-coded flexible wires and so on.

This is a long-term review. I will start out to say that the switches that we have are original installation and were installed late 2002 when the house was built (switches were our choice). The reason why I am unhappy with these switches is that by 2005, everyone of them started to yellow. By the next year, each one was bright yellow. I called Emerson and they told me that there was nothing I could do or that they would do. On top of that, a few of my switches spark when changing fan speed. I understand that all electrical items can spark but these give off a 1/2" spark with noise. Sometimes that speed sliders get stuck between the speeds and make an awful electrical sound. I have 10 of these installed in the house (5 in bedrooms, 1 in living room and 4 controlling fans on the different lanais.
