Excalibur Electronic FN10BB Winblaster Battery and Electric Operated Fan

Comment: I was so excited about the "battery operated" fan. I needed it for a singing gig, and it was highly anticipated for it's mobility and ease of use, (no plug necessary.)

Well it arrived. Taken out of the box, I could hear pieces jangling about. The fan was broken! The two pieces which held the fan together were missing and the fan came apart, right out of the box! Then.....the switch did not work!! Unbelievable!! I needed the fan the next day. I had spent $56.00 for it. So, my boyfriend worked for an hour to fix the switch, he did, and he duck- taped the two sides together, we plugged it in, and it did work. Now the excitement as we loaded the 8 D batteries (cost $10.00) We figured out the configuration, turned it on, and
IT DID NOT WORK!! Unbelievable. You may ask at this time why I did not consider shipping it back. Have you ever shipped something back? It is a hassle and a cost.

So, I have learned, books, ok, but to purchase a mechanical product from Amazon, or any website is foolhardy. Go walk in a store and see what you are getting.

Just a P.S. I posted a review with the manufacturer, and I received a call from a customer service rep, who after hearing my story, offered me $10.00 refund to remove it!
And even told me how to do it. I said I would do it for $30.00, (trying to recoup some of my losses.) He said he would call me back. He didn't. Very disappointed with the entire experience.

Comment: I bought this Excalibur fan online for camping in a little trailer. It works well on battery power, 12 volts too so it can wire straight to car battery in emergency use or in trailer aux circuit. It isn't a great house fan, it is meant for small spaces and low power consumption, light and delicate. The batteries required to run it weigh more than the fan. 2 years now, so far so good.

Comment: The fact that they call this thing the wind blaster is like a joke. This is one of the weakest fans I have ever bought. This fan should cost no more than five bucks. I went to Target and got a decent floor fan for about 18 dollars that had 10 times the power of this little wimp. Waste of money.

Comment: I purchased one of these a few months ago, and it has worked great the entire time. We took this fan camping and loved the fact that it ran on batteries also. Nice portable fan at a decent price!

Comment: I bought this product, because for the price it seems to be a very cost effective battery operated fan. I discovered after opening it that it requires 8 D size batteries to operate. Good news is it does come with a ac adapter. So I don't have to invest in a battery company in order to use it - just an extension cord. It is very quite and does put out a good amount of air. But the switch to go from low to high speed broke the first time trying to use it. Product is Made in China. So it only has 1 setting now, low. Not sure how long it will last, especially on batteries. It's an okay product. I've purchased better, but also worse. Good luck.
