This review is from: Hunter 23683 High Street 60-Inch Five-Blade Ceiling Fan, Weathered Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement) I wanted a new ceiling fan because I bought a house and the living room fan had an annoying whine.
This hunter model promised a whisper quiet motor. As I've gotten older I feel like I am more noise sensitive. It was relatively easy to install. It is very heavy. Heavier than the slightly smaller 52-inch unit it replaced. This wil be difficult for one person to do. I couldn't do it alone. It is just that awkward. It's nice to have someone to help steady it as you are mounting it. After the install I found the unit very very quiet. I could not perceive any motor noise coming from the unit. It has 3 speed settings. setting one is very slow. It is just slowly moving which is good when you just want some air circulating. Two I use most often. Setting three is fast and I did detect some slight wind noise as the air moved over the fan blades. I guess that's to be expected. It is not enough to bother a noise freak like me. This review is from: Hunter 23683 High Street 60-Inch Five-Blade Ceiling Fan, Weathered Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement) I'm very pleased with this ceiling fan. It was delivered on time, and the installation was no more difficult than expected. Once installed, the fan is extremely quiet and runs very smoothly. The reverse setting is very helpful in the winter thus far (I can't wait to try it in the summer). The only real drawback (as a few other people mentioned in their reviews, so I was forewarned), is if the fan loses power, when the power is restored, the lights on the fan turn on. To compensate for this, I just installed a wall switch that turns the fan/lights off completely when the unit is not in use (or for vacations, etc.). As for the one of the other chief complaints I've read, I have not had any instances of the fan turning itself on and off at odd hours of the day and night. I did make sure to change the jumper settings during the installation (from what I've heard, a lot of people skip this step, and can enter into a battle of the remotes as a result). Overall, I...Read more 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By VMACO (MIDDLETOWN, NY United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hunter 23683 High Street 60-Inch Five-Blade Ceiling Fan, Weathered Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement) This is a nice ceiling fan but the description is incorrect. This fan does not come with a 240 watt light fixture. It comes with 4 - 40Watt bulbs for a total of 160 watts. The maximum wattage listed is 190 Watts. One of the reasons we purchased this unit was because it listed the light kit as 240 Watts. |
