When this item was opened to be installed with the 52" Hunter Original we ordered, the installer informed me that it could not be used since it was not threaded on both ends. This item is threaded only on one end with the other end having some sort of mounting hole. Perhaps it can be used on other styles of Hunter fans but not on the one we purchased. A quick trip to a local building supply outlet solved the problem with the purchase of the correct downrod which was threaded on each end.
Amazon has very kindly and quickly offered a refund and I cannot say enough good things about how this was handled.

This is a piece of metal. No moving parts at all. The only thing they could have screwed up was length, finish or thread. They didnt, the product came in great shape and it still works today!
