Summary: Have fair warning about this fan 2008-08-25
Comment: I did not pay any attention to the other guys review about the difficulty of installing this fan--- read his review. He did not overstate the case. This is a Hunter flop. A customer asked me to install 3 of these fans in their great room. Cathedral ceilings and I am 15' in the air on a ladder. We had two guys on ladders who could not complete the install!! We persuaded the home owner to take these back and they bought Hampton Bay fans that have a normal and easy install. What was Hunter thinking on this one? Be warned.

Summary: Looks good, TERRIBLE install 2008-08-11
Comment: This is the hardest fan I have ever installed. Most ceiling fans come with a metal frame from which the pivot piece of the fan hangs from. You simply put the fan together, haul it up the ladder and set it in the frame, then connect the wires and connect the bezel to cover the mount, while the frame holds the weight of the fan. 15 minutes tops.
Not this one. First you mount a base plate to the ceiling, which includes a hook. Then assemble the fan, just the pole, bezel and pivot piece(without blades). Next you haul it up the ladder and hang the bezel on the hook. The fan hangs on the bezel (no internal frame). Next you snap the wireless interace into place and connect the wires. Here's the hard part: You have to stand at the top of the ladder, unhook the fan (30lbs) get both hands on the bezel and push it up to the base plate placing 3 tabs into three slots in the bezel and turn it to the right. If any of the wire nuts get in the way, or the wireless piece moves out of position, the fan will not mount to the base plate not matter how much wrestling you do.
Problems:
1. Getting the fan off the hook can shift your weight at the top of the ladder, BE CAREFUL.
2. When the fan is on the hook, the bezel interferes with the wireless piece, so when you take the fan off the hook it will often dislodge it. You must put this back before the fan will mount on the base plate, with 1 hand while the other holds the fan.
3. This is a big fan made for big rooms. You'll have the full weight of the fan motor in your hands as you wrestle with it trying to get those 3 tabs into place at the very top of the ceiling. Use a GOOD ladder.
