Hunter Fans 90161 17" Bamboo Garden Traditional Outdoor Cocoa Floor Fan

Because I had read reviews about the difficulty of assembly, I was expecting to spend at least a couple hours on it. It was complete in about 45 minutes. Seriously, I don't know what others are doing to make this a bigger project than it is. I will say that the "interlock bracket" assembly is a bit tricky (and a strange design), but it really wasn't too terribly difficult. Would I buy it again? In a heartbeat (and if they drop the price again to $99, I will buy another).

The fan is gorgeous and extremely well built. I know that statement can be subjective, so let me give a bit of an objective comparison. I also purchased two Deco Breeze "Sambuca" fans. See here for details on it:

This fan was a complete disaster to install! There is a safety mechanism in place where the interlock bracket has to be inserted just right in order for the fan to work. After spending nearly 2 hours with a lot of sweat and expletives, we gave up Day 1. We tried again Day 2 with our neighbor's help and they too could not figure it out. I mean we were all dumbfounded that we couldn't get this fan to start. We couldn't call Technical Support because they were closed on the weekend. Finally, we contacted Technical Support and were told to jiggle the bracket until it hits the switch exactly. Well we did that and it worked for a minute and then stopped. We jiggled some more and had to rig it to stay flush and it finally worked. I'm still baffled at how we thought we were purchasing a quality fan, but I'd just rather purchase an indoor fan for less of a headache! I purchased this fan about two years ago . The safety interlock with the fan cage was a bit of a challenge but came nowhere near causing me the distress of the one star reviewers. Directions could have been more precise.. The safety interlock was indeed a bad idea and totally unnecessary.
Pros..good quality construction, nice air velocity and volume.
Cons.. pedestal loosened up easily and after two years of dwelling outside it quit working. It did have a "lifetime" warranty from Hunter but the fan is no longer made and I haven't been able to find parts or a new motor. Hunter sent me a replacement but it is light and cheap looking compared to the "Summer Breeze" It is not rated for outside use either.
