Summary: Worth every buck! 2010-08-24
Comment: Very quiet and very nice looking. This fan replaced an ancient ceiling fan. It runs whisper quiet... you hardly know its on. Looks just as good if not better than the pictures. Worth every dollar. I'd say this was equal to or better than many of the more expensive fans.

Summary: Excellent fan, minor quibbles 2010-07-21
Comment: This is my second Hunter fan and I got it to replace a generic fan in my family room. It is beautiful, extremely quiet, moves a lot of air, and has generally excellent fit and finish. Hunter clearly considered ease of installation in designing the product. The canopy hook holds the fan up while you do the wiring and the light fixture wiring plugs into the fan - much better than having to fiddle with individual wires. Instructions are generally clear and easy to follow. The fan wiring harness accommodates up to a 4' downrod.

I do have a couple of minor quibbles.
1. Some of the screws are flat-Phillips combo-head and some (fan blade assembly, light fixture) are Phillips. You are going to need a Phillips screwdriver, so why bother with the combo-heads? Although I don't care for combo-head screws, this wasn't a real problem except for the 3" screws used to attach the ceiling plate. It takes a fair amount of torque to drive them and I find the combo-head cams out too easily, eventually damaging the head. I used a couple of standard #10 3" Phillips head wood screws instead and they were much easier to drive.
2. The instructions don't explicitly say which wire powers the fan and which powers the lights. Since I'm using separate switches (a Lutron Skylark series) for each, it took a minute to figure this out.
3. One of the holes on the light fixture was off, so it took some effort to get it lined up and attached.
4. The light fixture contains remote control electronics. This isn't mentioned in the instructions. Since I won't use this feature, it would be nice to have instructions on how to remove the electronics - the fixture is stuffed chock full of wires and removing the electronics would make more room.
5. Hint. If you install the fan with a longer downrod, it may hit your ladder during installation. I found wrapping a towel around the fan motor protected it nicely.

Bottom line - a great fan that was reasonably easy to install. I would definitely recommend it.

Summary: great fan 2010-03-16
Comment: We wanted a fan for the front room of our manufactured home to blow the heat down from the ceiling. I did a fair amount of research on the wed and went to Home Depot. We really wanted a QUIET fan. We had this one that was just so noisy (I think it was pretty cheap too). So low noise was a priority. Hunter fans have the 2nd best quality rating. After reading what to look for in a ceiling fan the Hunter Summer Breeze had the right qualifications at a GREAT price on Amazon. Had it installed a couple of nights ago. I can't hear the motor of the fan and it does exactly what we needed it to do. Also we think it is very attractive.

Summary: Needs better quality control 2010-02-20
Comment: I bought this Hunter fan because I thought it would add that 'extra touch' to the master bedroom. Looks great, but if I had known to check all pieces BEFORE the electrician started installing, it could have saved me a lot of money. These new fans have a squared 'grid' on the motor that snaps into the squared 'grid' on the light kit. The one on the motor was packaged so tightly that that plastic was bent, and we didn't know this until the electrician had done all the work and was ready to install the light. So the fan was no good and had to be replaced. Amazon was great about FedExing me a replacement fan, but the electrician still had to be paid for his time. Not considering the time it took to take this down, package it back up, drag it to work for UPS to pick it up to mail it back to Amazon. Then the electrician has to be brought back to install the replacement fan. A lot of wasted money and time that could have been avoided if Hunter had packaged properly. By the way, got the Hunter remote with this (27185), and the fan and lights come on all times of the day and night. So now the electrician comes BACK to take out the remote component so that the fan can just work manually.

Summary: Works Great, Wish It Looked Better 2009-11-05
Comment: I've had the fan for nearly a year, and I can't complain about the way it works. No problems. Lights: fine. Fan: fine. It's been absolutely silent so that sometimes at night while I'm working on the computer in the dark, I have to turn on the light to know whether the fan is on or not. Buttttttttt ... I do wish it looked better. I mean, its quality level is fine, but the design is starting to feel dated, or maybe it's that it reminds me of generic fans. Do I sound like a spoiled fan snob? I'm not. Honestly, most of the time, I'm not looking at the ceiling and when I saw this review suggestion pop up, I had to remind myself that I even owned this fan (that I'm sitting under right now). But the main reason I purchased the fan was because it was much cheaper than the fans chosen for the great room and master bedroom, and yes, those fans are much more expensive, but I really love them. This fan? I like it, but I don't likelike it. Still, it hasn't broken on me even in the middle of a Deep South hot summer, so I recommend it to anyone who isn't as persnickety about having a butterface fan like I am.
