Minka-Aire F519-ORB 52-inch Concept II Flush Mount Ceiling Fan, Oil Rubbed Bronze with Taupe Blades

I purchased these fans as I'm 6'2", ceilings are 8' and they seemed to be the fans with the blades closest to the ceiling so I don't lose a hand while I'm getting dressed in the morning. We purchased 4 of these fans, as well as another model from Minka Aire. Compared to the other model of Minka Aire (purchased from Restoration Hardware), these are much easier to install. They have not wobbled, move air nicely. They light is perhaps not the most attractive, but it lights the room well. The base of these fans are larger than other fans, and may appear bulkier towards the ceiling.

However, it is a bit more complex than a screwdriver and electrical tape to install, as another reviewer mentioned. The ceiling fan has to be secured to the ceiling in an appropriate fashion, either attached directly to a ceiling joist, or through brace b/n the ceiling joists. (westinghouse Saf-T Brace). Very easy to install, from taking down the old fan to installing the last blade of the Minka Aire, it only took us 1 hour. We like the way the blades just snapped into place. The light kit is built into the fan so there was no extra work involved there. I would recommend this product for the do it yourselfer.

I'm quite hapy with this fan -- it functions beautifully and quietly with a convenient remote. My boyfriend says the installation was reasonably straightforward. My only regret is that the blades are molded from a putty-colored plastic that, on close inspection, is not very attractive or expensive-looking. Luckily the fan is on the ceiling so I rarely notice.
