Minka-Aire Fans F603-ORB 54" Como Contemporary Oil-Rubbed Bronze Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Wall Ctrl

We installed this fan about two months ago. It was fine but occasionally we would smell a fishy odor in the room. It took us a while to figure it out but the smell was caused by the light bulbs burning a flat, white metal/composite(?) plate that was above the light bulbs. There is some foil-backed insulation between the bulbs and the plate but it was charred as well. The smell only occurred when the light was also in use. I talked with Minka but their response was not unacceptable. The person said that although the history of this fixture did show such problems, it was not a safety hazard and had not caused fires(!). I offered to send a photo of the browned plate but he said it wouldn't make a difference in their response. They apparently think that it is perfectly OK and pleasant to smell a fishy odor when the fixture is in use and, much worse, they are willing to take a chance with the safety of their customers.
