Safely Install Your Ceiling Fan from a Suspended CeilingThe Westinghouse Lighting Saf-T-Grid allows contractors or do-it-yourselfers to safely install lightweight ceiling fan, lighting fixture, or chandelier from a suspended ceiling. The Safe-T-Grid fits 2-foot by 2-foot and 2-foot by 4-foot ceiling tile grid work, and it features a turnbuckle for easy height adjustment.
Arriving with a 15-foot support chain, all necessary mounting hardware, wire bushing, and instructions to get the job done right the first time, the Safe-T-Grid also features a Saf-T-Cap to protect the bolts and wires during drywall installation and painting.
UL-Listed Support Grid Works with All Models of Ceiling FansFeaturing a heavy-duty, all-metal 15-1/2-cubic-inch dual-mount electrical box, the Saf-T-Grid works with any model of ceiling fan. The box has 8-32 threads for cover plates and lightweight lighting fixtures and 10-24 threads for ceiling fans and chandeliers.
The Saf-T-Grid is UL listed for fixture support of 50 pounds or less and is acceptable for fan support of 50 pounds or less. It meets or exceeds UL standards regarding exposed threads within the box, and it meets or exceeds NEC safety codes.

We purchased two of these braces to install ceiling fans in a drop ceiling. Upon opening the box the instructions and the parts do not agree with each other and if you look at the picture on their site and Amazon thd bar isn't even installed in the clips. The clips that go on to the "short" bar kept sliding off and when they would stay they bowed the ceiling grid and would not sit flush with the grid or tile. In fact the clips for the short and long brace damaged the ceiling tile. After dealing with the brace it was time for the chains, the "s" hooks are too big and kept falling off the chain as you tried to install it. I had to grab a pair of channel locks and restrict the "s" hook so the chain would stay on. After dealing with that, you have to hook it up to the eyelette on the back of the box. The instructions don't tell you to unscrew the eyeletes to give you some room for adjustment. If you install it as received you will not have enough travel in eyelete to adjust. Also...Read more

So I bought this so I could attach a normal light fixture to a drop ceiling panel because I did not have sufficient headroom for a recessed light. This kit contained a lot more than I needed but should have everything for your situation. In my case I have a 2'x2' grid and my light fixture (not a fan) was <10 pounds. I only used one of the braces and did not use the chain as I thought it unnecessary for my situation. Yes there is another part here at amazon that seems more appropriate but this one is cheaper and you never know how you are going to attach these things until you have everything apart. On lesson learned is cut the hold for the electrical box smaller than the electrical box. You want the electrical box to ride on top of the tile and the screws from your fixture to pinch the tile between it and the box. The first tile I cut I made it the same size and the trim kit would not snug up to the ceiling tile. Your mileage may vary and I am no expert electrician or on...Read more

Haven't actually hung a fixture from it yet, but the hardware went together very nicely and appears to be a completely functional. I may buy several more to finish other rooms and hang ceiling fans.
