The Westinghouse Contempra Trio fan is one of Westinghouse's Hugger series of fans, which are specially designed for rooms with low ceilings. This 42-inch ceiling fan is best suited for medium-sized rooms, such as recreation rooms, living rooms, or children's bedrooms.
Reversible Blades and Reversible Switch
The Contempra Trio's five blades are reversible, so you can choose the finish that best suits your room's decor. The attractive wooden blades operate smoothly and efficiently.
For year-round comfort and maximum energy savings, Westinghouse ceiling fans include a three-speed, reversible switch that allows the ceiling fans to be used during cool or warm weather. In the summer, keep your home cool by running your ceiling fan counterclockwise. In the winter, run your ceiling fan clockwise to circulate warm air from the ceiling, eliminating cold spots and drafts.
Light Kit with a Trio of Frosted Glass Shades
Equipped with a light kit, the Contempra Trio fan features three lights that hang beneath the center of the fan. The lighting fixture's frosted glass shades provide a soft hue of light. If you choose, use compact fluorescent bulbs to increase efficiency and reduce your energy costs.
This Westinghouse fan is UL listed and is covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty, which provides a lifetime warranty on the motor and a two-year warranty on all other parts.

Summary: Beware! Incorrect Description 2010-06-23
Comment: Does NOT use standard base bulbs! I was disappointed because I have looked all over for a lighted ceiling fan that takes standard base bulbs so I can use the energy savers that provide much brighter light at lower wattage. This one uses candelabra base bulbs which are expensive to replace so I returned it. Wish I had read the existing "Reviews" because I could have saved myself the trouble. Amazon must not use the information they gather on the "Reason for Return" portion of their return form because the description has remained incorrect since July of 2007 based on the date of Brian Seilski's review. The "Technical Details" have still not been corrected 3 years later!

Summary: what u pay is what u get 2010-06-17
Comment: Item arrived in time. Is not a bad buy for the money. Pretty easy to put together. Nice looks. Only 2 things I can complain about. One of the glasses came broken in pieces. Amazon had to send another fan so I can take a good glass out of the box and return the second fan back. They paid for shipping. They couldn't just replace the glass. Well, in the end it worked out w/o too many head aches. The Amazon customer service was very nice and efficient in solving the problem. Second complain I have, it's a bit noisy on the low speed when it's quiet in the house, during the night. It has something to do with the glasses. When I touch the glasses and hold them firm, the noise stops. Not a very big deal, I can sleep well anyway. Overall, I'm happy with what I got for the money I paid.

Summary: Great product for the price 2010-04-29
Comment: I purchased three of these fans for my kid's rooms in our new home. I replaced the standard nickel finish lights that came with the house. These fans look great. They provide more than enough air for all of the rooms (and one is rather large). As far as the bulbs are concerned, the small bulbs work fine. I use 40 watt not 60. Three 40 watt bulbs provides 120 watts of light which is more than enough. My only complaint is that the white side of the blades look funky so I used the wood side in all the rooms. These fans may not be the best but to get three for under $140...you just can't beat that!

Comment: This fan is the whole enchilada. Very easy to install and very quiet also. A faint hum as with any fan but no rattles or clicking noises. For small to medium size rooms, you won't find a better fan. Candleabra bulbs are not an issue nor is the airflow. Why on earth you would pay more for a fan is beyond me, as this one totally fits the bill. Seriously.
